It's important to understand where you are buying and what municipal structure you have become part of as each entity is unique when it comes to governance and development.

Understand the difference between a County and a Summer Village:

  • A County government is a federation of the local municipalities within its boundaries. Counties are referred to as "upper tier" municipalities. 
  • Summer Village is a municipality type defined under the authority of the Municipal government Act. The formation of a Summer Village can occur if a majority of the buildings are on parcels of land smaller than 1850 square metres and there is a population of 300 or more
